EforE Board visit Pang Ung in Mok Cham Pae District of Mae Hong son, the site selected for pico-hydro power development during 27 – 28 August 2011 |
Leading by Dr. Piyasvasti Amranand, E for E Board together with the honorable guests, Dr. Wong K. Snidvongs and Mrs. Anik Amranand, has visited Pang Tong 2 Royal Project, widely known as Pang Ung, one of the targeted sites for developingpico-hydro power plant. The project is a part of UNDP’s renewable energy promotion activities under the UN JointProgramme on Integrated Highland Livelihood Development in Mae Hong Son (UNJP), which E for E has been awarded to identify the needs, gaps, and renewable energy options to bridge them since December 2010. Pico-Hydro Project in PangUng will supply electricity for lighting purpose to the villagers in Raum Thai Village, who formerly use diesel or gasoline generator as the source of power. It is planned that the project will start its operation by the end of this December.
The group has also visited the hydro power plant projects in the area within Mok Cham Pae District of Mae Hong son, i.e.Huai Pong On Micro Hydro Power Plant and Mae Sa Nga Mini Hydro Power Plant, where Mr. Noppadhon Chiamton from Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency has given a warm welcome as well as a comprehensive presentation.
